Generate QR CodeWhat a phone number QR Code is and how it works
A phone number QR Code is a code with the number itself written into the pattern. The camera reads it and shows a call button: all that is left is to press it. Nothing is downloaded and nowhere is opened, which is why a code like this comes through even where the signal works only now and then.
No app and no link: the phone camera manages on its own.
The phone shows it in full and offers to dial it.
The call starts only after the press — there will be no accidental ones.
Write it however suits you — with spaces, brackets or dashes. The international form is safer if people ring you from different countries.
No account, no link, no page of ours: the number fits into the pattern whole and travels with it.
The code reads without the internet: the phone takes the number straight out of the pattern and offers to dial it at once.
That is why a QR Code like this is always static: it depends neither on the network nor on us, and it will still work ten years from now. The other side of that is that the number cannot be changed after printing — the run has to be printed again.
What is the difference between a static and a dynamic QR Code?
The same pattern on paper — different options once it is printed.
- A static code is tied to its link for good, and that link cannot be changed.
- Analytics are not available for codes like this either.
- The link or the file the code leads to can be changed at any moment.
- Analytics show the number of scans, the countries and the devices.
- You can set a password, an expiry date and a limit on how many people it lets in.

A QR Code in your brand colours
Add a logo, your brand colours and the shape of the elements — and the QR Code becomes part of your design on packaging, in a menu, on a business card or in a shop window.
- Logo — upload your own file.
- Colours — set the code, the background or a gradient.
- Shape and eyes — choose the shape of the elements.
- Frame — add a caption and set the style.
- Preset — save the styling for your next QR Codes.
Where a phone number QR Code works best
Where someone is standing in front of you with a phone in their hand: the window of a closed shop, the side of a van, a notice, packaging, a fitter’s badge.
A sign and the window of a closed shop
Someone turned up after you had closed. The code on the glass is the only way not to lose them: they ring in the morning instead of walking over to the competitor across the road.
A van and workwear
A number on a van is rarely remembered, and there is not always time to photograph it. A code takes a second to catch — and it is already in the phone, with nothing copied down on the move.
A notice and a flyer
Numbers copied off notices come out wrong by one digit — and the call goes to a stranger. A code reads unambiguously, country code and all.
Packaging and a warranty card
Customer care, calling out an engineer, a warranty claim: nobody has to hunt for a phone number on a website at the very moment they are already annoyed.
A fitter’s badge and a “need help” sign
In a shop, in a hotel, in a clinic the visitor rings whoever looks after that area. For questions that can wait, the neighbour to print beside it is an email QR Code.
A short check while the stickers are still on hold
From abroad a number without it will not dial, and on product packaging that happens more often than you would think.
Your number should appear on the screen in full, extension and all, with not one extra digit.
From the outside this code is no different from a link code — a caption in the frame settles the doubt and brings in calls.
On a sign the code is read from the pavement and at an angle: a dark pattern on a light background is taken more confidently than a colourful one.
