Facebook QR Code

What a Facebook QR Code is and how it works

A Facebook QR Code is a code with the address of your page written inside it. One scan and the person is already with you: they can follow, send a message or look at the events coming up. No search, no namesakes, no other pages with a similar name.

OPEN ON FACEBOOK news and events
1

Someone points a camera at the QR Code.

2

Your Facebook page opens.

3

They follow you or send you a message.

Where one and the same code can lead

A company page

An address of the facebook.com/mybrand kind. The person arrives where the news, the opening hours and the follow button are.

A group

A link to a group brings people into the discussion — where they ask and answer each other themselves.

An event

From a poster or an invitation the person lands on the event page and presses “Going” — on the day itself Facebook reminds them.

A conversation in Messenger

An address of the m.me kind with the name of your page opens a chat: the person writes to you at once, without hunting for a button.

What you need to make the QR Code
A link or the page nameThe full address or simply mybrand — the QR Code comes out right either way.
The kind of codeA static one leads straight there and lives on its own; with a dynamic one the address behind the code can be changed later.
The stylingColours, the shape of the dots, a logo in the middle and the caption “We’re on Facebook” in the frame around the code.
Comparison

What is the difference between a static and a dynamic QR Code?

The same pattern on paper — different options once it is printed.

Static QR URL Analytics
  • A static code is tied to its link for good, and that link cannot be changed.
  • Analytics are not available for codes like this either.
Dynamic QR URL 1 URL 2 PDF Menu Analytics
  • The link or the file the code leads to can be changed at any moment.
  • Analytics show the number of scans, the countries and the devices.
  • You can set a password, an expiry date and a limit on how many people it lets in.

Styling

A QR Code in your brand colours

Add a logo, your brand colours and the shape of the elements — and the QR Code becomes part of your design on packaging, in a menu, on a business card or in a shop window.

What you can set in the editor above
  • Logo — upload your own file.
  • Colours — set the code, the background or a gradient.
  • Shape and eyes — choose the shape of the elements.
  • Frame — add a caption and set the style.
  • Preset — save the styling for your next QR Codes.
Where to use it

Where a Facebook QR Code works best

Where the person is already beside you with half a minute to spare: at the window, at a poster, with a box in their hands. They will not type your name in, but they will point a camera.

The window and the room

Somebody already standing in front of you follows in five seconds — instead of hunting for you in the app by name. A sticker on the glass works in the hours when you are closed, too.

FACEBOOK Like

An event poster

From a poster and an invitation the person lands on the event and presses “Going”: on the day Facebook reminds them, and you can see in advance how many are coming.

A job advert

A candidate looks at the company page before sending an application — photographs, news, the life of the team. If you have a careers page, the way to it is a website QR Code.

Packaging and the card in the order

A buyer has something to say straight after the purchase. Let them say it on your page rather than in somebody else’s review. If there are several networks, what goes on the box is one social media QR Code.

The counter and the door of a closed shop

Even when you are not open, a person sees the address, the hours and the news — and does not walk away thinking you have closed for good.

Before you print

A short check before the window is covered

Check it from somebody else’s phone

On yours the page opens in the app you are already signed into, and a mistake in the link stays invisible.

A short name instead of digits

An address of the facebook.com/mybrand kind makes the pattern simpler, and therefore surer when it is printed small.

An event — with a dynamic code only

Otherwise in a week the whole run of posters will be inviting people to an event that has been and gone.

A caption that explains

“We’re on Facebook”, “Timetable and news” — a person should know where they will land before they scan.

Questions and answers

Common questions about Facebook QR Codes

The short version of what people ask most: the page name, groups and events, messages, the app and changing the address after printing.

How do I make a QR Code for Facebook?
Paste the page address or its name into the generator field above — facebook.com/mybrand will do, and so will simply mybrand. After that pick static or dynamic, put the code in your colours and download the file for print.
Should I paste a link or the page name?
Either will do: the full address, or just a name of the mybrand kind. If your page has an address with digits in it instead of a name, copy that out of the browser whole — it is safer that way.
Will a QR Code work for a group or an event?
Yes: codes are made for a company page, for a group and for an event — any Facebook link will do.
A company page or an event — where should the QR Code lead?
On a poster and an invitation — to the event: the person presses “Going” and gets a reminder on the day. In a window, on a business card and on packaging — to the page: it will still be to the point a year from now.
Can a QR Code lead straight into a conversation?
Yes: paste a link of the m.me kind with the name of your page — a scan opens the chat in Messenger, and the person writes to you without hunting for a button on the page.
Will the page open in the Facebook app?
Almost always in it: Facebook is one of those apps that is already sitting on the phone, and a scan hands the page straight over to it. Where it is missing — a work laptop, a borrowed phone — the very same page turns up on the web, and reading the news and the opening hours there costs nobody a sign-in.
Do I need to sign up to make a Facebook QR Code?
For a static QR Code, no. An account is needed when the code leads to an event: links like that do not live long, and a dynamic code is turned afterwards towards the next event.
Can I change the page address once the code is printed?
Yes, with a dynamic one: you swap the address behind the code in your account, and what has been printed is left alone. The same sign on the counter leads now to the company page, now to the group — whichever matters more at the time.
Should I print codes for Facebook and for other networks side by side?
Better just one. A social media QR Code gathers Facebook and the rest of the platforms into a single list on a page of its own. Two codes side by side on glass, and people more often skip both.
Can I see how many people went to the page?
With a dynamic one, yes: the number of scans and the days are visible in your account. How many of them pressed “Like” is shown by the page’s own statistics.
Is there any point in putting a QR Code inside a Facebook post?
Not much: the person is already in the app and finds it easier to tap a link. A QR Code is for where tapping is impossible — a window, packaging, a poster, staff T-shirts and a paper business card.

Make a QR Code for your Facebook page

Paste the link or the page name into the generator above, style the code in your brand colours and download it for print — it’s free. With a dynamic code the address changes later while the pattern on the paper stays as it is.

A code leads to a scam, a virus or someone else’s material — tell us and we will look into it

If a QR Code from our domain leads to suspicious or unwanted material, let us know through this form.

Give the link and tell us why you think the code is illegal or breaks our Terms of Service. Leave your name and email, and we’ll confirm we’ve received your report and tell you what we decide.
